    Only in Canada...

This really blows me away. Yvan Tessier was turned away from an English immersion course at the University of New Brunswick because his guide dog responds only to French commands. Students in the course are expected to communicate only in English at all times during the course, including talking to the dog.

The whole thing is crazy. The dog is not speaking French or English. It's a dog. When his owner isuues a command the dog simply responds based on it's training. Denying the guy access to an education because of his disability is discrimination.

Editor's Note: The Universtiy has reversed it's earlier decision and has allowed Yvan Tessier to attend the class...smart move.

    CanadaHere's an odd one...

SURREY, B.C. (CP) - The investigation into a pet cheetah that disappeared from a car parked in this Vancouver suburb can now be classified as a "catnapping."

The owner told police the cheetah, named Loki, is tame but since it is on a special diet, the risk to the public will increase as he gets hungry.

Canada Your Tax Dollars at work...

OTTAWA (CP) - Some of the first patients to smoke Health Canada's government-approved marijuana say it's "disgusting" and want their money back.

"It's totally unsuitable for human consumption," said Jim Wakeford, 58, an AIDS patient in Gibsons, B.C. "It gave me a slight buzziness for about three to five minutes, and that was it. I got no other effect from it." Barrie Dalley, a 52-year-old Toronto man who uses marijuana to combat the nausea associated with AIDS, said the Health Canada dope actually made him sick to his stomach.
