I thought this was an interesting story.
The Shell Oil Company recently issued a warning after three incidents in which cell phones ignited fumes during fueling operations.
In the first case, the phone was placed on the car's trunk lid during fueling; it rang and the ensuing fire destroyed the car and the gasoline pump. In the second, an individual suffered severe burns to their face when fumes ignited as they answered a call while refueling their car.
And in the third, an individual suffered burns to the thigh and groin as fumes ignited when the phone, which was in their pocket, rang while they were fueling their car.
Here are some things to keep in mind:
Mobile Phones can ignite fuel or fumes. Mobile phones that light up when switched on or when they ring release enough energy to provide a spark for ignition

I would like to encourage people to take part in the Spring Sprint 2004.
This year, you can join thousands of people across Canada who will walk, run or sprint in support of the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
Gather your family, friends and colleagues - Spring Sprint is a terrific way to raise awareness in your community about brain tumours.
It's a good cause and the proceeds go to the foundations's mission "to reach every Canadian affected by a brain tumour with support, education and information, and to fund brain tumour research." To learn more about how you can participate in this worthy cause visit their website at:
http://www.braintumour.ca/braintumour.nsf/eng/SpringSprint
If you live in the Victoria area the Victoria Spring Sprint will be held on Sunday May 16 2004 at the Cedar Hill Recreation Center. To learn more about the event and how you can participate go to:
http://www.braintumour.ca/braintumour.nsf/eng/SprintVictoria
To register online click here. Select your city, fill in the required information and A registration package will be sent out to you.

The origins of the unofficial holiday also known as All Fool's Day is unclear, but it is said to have evolved from celebrations involving the first day of spring. Another April Fool's Day has come and gone with a few notable pranks being played by some high profile groups.
BMW Canada jumped on the get-your-goat bandwagon Thursday with a series of ads in Toronto newspapers. Both BMW enthusiasts and golfers may have been momentarily excited about an alleged new Beemer on the market played up in a half-page ad announcing the auto-maker's 18-series - golf cart. Like its luxury road cousins, the ad said, the golf cart is said to come with everything, including all-wheel drive and a 14-inch plasma screen.
The Toronto Star also carried a spoof BMW ad, this one announcing the auto-maker's support for the construction of the first phase of a Canadian autobahn, or super-highway, with no speed limit. BMW responded to an e-mail from Broadcast News with a straightforward reply saying the company is proud of bringing its engineering know-how to sporting goods. A link on BMW's website announced Thursday its ads were April Fool's jokes. The company didn't say how many people tried to place an order for the cart or showed support for the autobahn.
In Alberta, word was circulating that the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers were merging, a move that could have easily devastated fans of the rival western teams - if it was the real thing. The hockey-hoax story in the Edmonton Sun quoted a team insider as saying Alberta's two NHL teams are merging to survive, and that players from the Flames and Oilers would be united under the banner the Alberta Foilers and make their new home in Red Deer - right between the two major cities.
"Red Deer is smack in the middle of Canada's hottest economic growth corridor outside the Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal golden triangle," the Sun quotes the insider as saying. "That's where our future lies, drawing fans from both cities and rural Alberta to support one franchise." The story also said the province of Alberta, "while constantly supporting both teams by accepting all the free luxury box tickets offered to MLAs," refused direct financial aid to the teams in an attempt to keep them in their respective cities.
And it concludes that NHL and players' association approval to merge the teams was "swift - after officials pointed out the move would cut in half the number of wintertime road trips they have to make to Alberta." The newspaper closed the report by saying Steve Smith, the Oiler who scored a series-deciding playoff goal for the Flames, was expected to be named the compromise coach of the combined teams.
And my personal favorite
In Toronto, obsessive joggers might have been a tad peeved at a Toronto Star report that a major police crackdown on speeding runners so that mating black squirrels wouldn't be disturbed. Dubbed Operation Quickie, the new speed-limit bylaw was set to take effect Thursday - coincidentally, April Fool's Day. "Research indicates that one of the greatest inhibiting factors to amorous squirrels is joggers travelling at excessive speeds," the story quoted a zoologist as saying.
Joggers breaking the speed limit of 10 kilometres an hour were to be issued a warning. Repeat speeders would be setting themselves up for fines as much as $500, depending on how fast they were running. Needless to say, there was no truth that police would be setting radar traps in parks across the Greater Toronto Area - which would have likely made dedicated runners a bit squirrely. 1 comments

The following was an actual ad in a newspaper in Atlanta, Georgia. Read it and see what you think.
SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I’m a very good looking girl who loves to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pick-up truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. Rub me the right way and watch me respond. I’ll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Kiss me and I’m yours. Call (***)***-**** and ask for Daisy.
Over 15,000 men found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society about an 8-week old black Labrador retriever.....Men are so easy !

The Comic Book Guy is pretty open minded, but this is just odd...
